Site Safety & Facilities Officer

AlloyedSeattle, WA
Onsite

About The Position

Alloyed is seeking a dedicated, methodical, and hands-on professional to join the Seattle team as Site Safety & Facilities Officer. This is a unique full-time dual-function role that carries equal weight across two complementary disciplines: ensuring the site is safe and fully compliant, and keeping the facility well-maintained and running smoothly day to day. On the safety side, you will work closely with Alloyed's UK-based Health & Safety team, which sets company-wide priorities and standards. Your job is to implement those programs at the Seattle site, translating them into local practice, verifying alignment with Washington State regulations (WISHA / L&I / OSHA), and engaging the right local providers to get things done. You do not need to be a process-safety specialist; you do need to be resourceful and able to quickly research and apply unfamiliar regulatory requirements. On the facilities side, you will be the go-to person for day-to-day building operations, from hands-on minor maintenance and furniture assembly to coordinating licensed contractors for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and waste-management work. You will work in close partnership with Alloyed's UK-based Infrastructure and Facilities team. This is an onsite role reporting to both the Seattle Site Manager and the Infrastructure & Safety Director.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in facilities management, workplace health & safety, EHS coordination, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on competency with minor building maintenance tasks (drilling, assembly, basic repairs) and confidence using standard power and hand tools.
  • Proven ability to research local regulatory requirements, identify appropriate service providers, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills; able to manage multiple concurrent priorities and switch between administrative and physical tasks throughout the day.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with employees, contractors, regulators, and UK-based colleagues across time zones.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Physical fitness and willingness to undertake manual tasks throughout the working day.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OSHA General Industry standards, Washington State workplace safety regulations, Seattle Fire Code, and chemical safety standards.
  • Experience creating and reviewing risk assessments for industrial machinery, hazardous substances, or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, research, or advanced industrial environment.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Prior experience working with remote or internationally-based teams.
  • Prior experience working in an AS9100-certified or ISO 9001-compliant environment, with familiarity supporting ITAR-controlled facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Seattle site’s primary health and safety contact, implementing UK H&S team programs while ensuring alignment with local applicable regulations.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and track remediation through to closure.
  • Create and/or maintain risk assessments, safe-work procedures, safety signage, records and logs.
  • Investigate accidents and near-misses, document findings and corrective actions, and report progress to the UK H&S team.
  • Carry out hands-on minor maintenance, furniture assembly, space moves, light repairs, and general site upkeep.
  • Respond to facilities requests, resolving issues directly or coordinating with contractors for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire suppression, access control, security, cleaning, and waste services.
  • Inspect internal and external areas to keep the site clean, safe, presentable, accessible, and compliant.
  • Assist with office and workshop space reconfigurations.
  • Liaise with the UK Infrastructure and Facilities team on projects, procurement, maintenance schedules, contractor work orders, expenditure records, and site improvements.
