About The Position

KOMAN Advantage LLC has a lucrative career opportunity for a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with construction and federal contracting experience to support our construction projects in Yuma, AZ. This role is responsible for the daily enforcement of all established safety programs, regulations, and safe work practices to direct hire employees, subcontractors, and other personnel present on a job site. The SSHO will lead the Plan of the Day Safety Meeting, document attendance, and provide instructions on safe work procedures, safety regulations, and emergency plans. This position requires preparing all project-related safety documents, investigating incidents, performing hazard assessments, conducting equipment inspections, and reviewing worker certifications and training. The SSHO will also conduct safety training, assist with compliance audits, and provide weekly safety reports to the Safety Director, while staying current with safety literature, regulations, and codes.

Requirements

  • 5 years of construction industry safety experience
  • 5 years of Federal Government Contracting experience is required.
  • At least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years.
  • Active 30-Hour OSHA is required.
  • Active CPR and First Aid is required.
  • Ability to travel and work on jobsites throughout the US
  • Ability to obtain a clearance (if needed) to access military and government installations

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of EM385-1-1 is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily enforcement of all established safety programs, regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Leading the Plan of the Day Safety Meeting and documenting attendance.
  • Providing instructions to workers on safe work procedures, safety regulations, and emergency plans.
  • Preparing all project-related safety documents, including Accident Prevention Plan (APP), Activity Hazard Analysis, Daily Safety Inspections, and Incident reports.
  • Investigating incidents promptly to identify underlying causes and completing necessary documents for reporting to the Corporate Safety Director.
  • Performing regular on-site hazard assessments to identify unsafe work practices and hazards, and providing recommendations for corrective action.
  • Conducting routine equipment inspections and ensuring daily inspection documentation is completed.
  • Reviewing required certifications and training for workers and subcontractor personnel, ensuring they are current and applicable.
  • Setting up or performing personnel safety training as needed.
  • Assisting in performing compliance audits and implementing follow-up corrective actions.
  • Providing weekly safety reports to the Safety Director.
  • Keeping up with current knowledge of safety literature, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Performing other appropriate duties as assigned.
