About The Position

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Senior Manager will lead a team of SREs to drive the implementation and adoption of site reliability best practices within Bread Financial. This role will build, mentor, and manage a high-performing SRE team that ensures the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of our business-critical systems. This role combines technical leadership, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of both SRE and FinTech to help us deliver maximum availability and operational excellence in a highly regulated industry. The SRE Senior Manager will champion the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into reliability engineering practices — leveraging AIOps, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation to continuously advance operational maturity. This role will work closely with development, operations, cloud, data engineering, AI/ML, and security teams to drive improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 8+ years of experience in an IT / SRE/DevOps /developer related field.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • AWS, Azure, SRE Tools, and/or ITILv4 Certification
  • 10+ years of experience in an IT / SRE/DevOps /developer related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of SREs to drive performance and career growth. Set goals aligned to business strategy and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build capabilities in AI/ML-driven reliability, enabling use of modern tooling and intelligent automation.
  • Partner in designing cloud-native infrastructure and services across AWS and Azure, applying SRE best practices. Ensure high availability, scalability, and security. Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to deliver solutions aligned to business needs, and integrate AI-driven optimization tools to enhance resilience and automated operations.
  • Implement and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting to enable proactive incident detection and response. Drive adoption of AIOps capabilities, including anomaly detection, predictive alerting, automated root cause analysis, and noise reduction. Enforce SRE best practices and leverage AI/ML to improve incident analysis, pattern recognition, and toil reduction.
  • Cultivate relationships across roles and organizations to maximize collaboration, partnership, and efficiency. Partner closely with Fusion Center peers, data science, AI/ML platform, and FinOps teams to align reliability objectives with broader technology and business strategies. Provide feedback formally and informally. Request and utilize feedback to foster personal development.
  • Advocate for SRE practices and drive adoption across the organization. Champion the responsible use of AI within reliability engineering, including establishing governance guardrails for AI-assisted decision-making in production environments, consistent with financial regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong business knowledge within the financial services domain, including an understanding of regulatory, compliance, and data privacy considerations (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOX, FFIEC) as they relate to AI adoption and operational reliability. Strive to influence the team to generate support to achieve desired business outcomes.
