About The Position

Learn what it takes to keep a global technology platform running at its best. As a site reliability engineer intern at Gallup, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to strengthen the performance and reliability of the systems behind Gallup’s global platform. You’ll gain hands-on experience with observability, automation and incident response while contributing to real projects and building skills you can carry into your technology career.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an associate, bachelor’s or graduate degree program in computer science, MIS or a related field required
  • Basic knowledge of and/or experience with AWS or another cloud platform required
  • Basic knowledge of and/or experience with Windows or Linux server administration, networking or infrastructure required
  • Classroom or professional experience working with one or more of the following technologies required: Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Docker, Amazon ECS, GitHub
  • Enrollment at a college or university within an 80-mile radius of San Francisco, California, required
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027 required
  • A commitment to working on-site at Gallup’s San Francisco office Monday through Thursday required, with the option to work remotely on Friday
  • Eligibility to work in the United States required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to monitoring or incident management tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana or PagerDuty preferred
  • Anticipated graduation between August 2027 and May 2028 preferred; will consider 2029 graduates

Responsibilities

  • Help build and improve observability using tools like Dynatrace and PagerDuty to monitor applications running on AWS
  • Create dashboards, alerts and metrics that give engineering teams real-time insight into application performance and system reliability
  • Support automated alerting workflows that integrate directly with Slack
  • Shadow and support incident response to learn how Gallup detects, resolves and prevents issues before they affect customers
  • Write scripts and automation that reduce repetitive operational work
  • Collaborate with a progressive technology team of site reliability engineers, DevOps engineers and software developers
