As a member of the Facilities Operation, and under the direction of the Supervisor of Life Safety Inspection & Testing, and working collaboratively with other University departments, the Site Protection Technician is responsible for the comprehensive inspection, testing, and related repairs to the University’s Life Safety System, including but not limited to fire, sprinkler, standpipe systems, fire pumps, and emergency broadcast towers, kitchen hood systems, special hazard systems, and fire extinguishers. The technician will assume responsibility for all the documentation related to these inspections. This position will be responsible for performing all campus Fire and Life Safety Systems code-related inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs and ensuring they are properly documented in accordance with NFPA and current local fire code requirements. This position will be responsible for performing all testing activities safely and in compliance with University and OSHA safety standards and practices.
