About The Position

The Woodfibre LNG Project is a significant undertaking located near Squamish, British Columbia, involving the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility. Woodfibre LNG Limited, a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited, is seeking a Project Engineer - Electrical to oversee the design, maintenance, and transition of the Temporary Construction Power System to a permanent one. This role also involves supporting and monitoring the installation activities of high voltage (HV), medium voltage (MV), and low voltage (LV) components by construction contractors, based on the approved IFC design. The successful candidate will report to the Site Construction Manager and be a key member of the engineering and senior management team during the project's construction phase.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technologist qualification.
  • Extensive High Voltage electrical design and installation experience preferred.
  • Competent in NFPE 70E Code & Arc Flash Safety as per Technical Safety BC Standards.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in oil and gas, heavy industrial construction, engineering, equipment suppliers, and other construction-centric work.
  • Attend required training, courses, and certifications related to ongoing/new work.
  • Experience managing provincial construction permits.
  • Willingness to comply with WLNG’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and all safety policies and procedures.
  • Good organizational, computer, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s licence and passport.
  • Work authorization in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Squamish Area residents are preferred (candidates who live locally within 30 minutes-1hr drive).
  • Specific training will be provided by WLNG as required in areas such as confined space, work at height, first aid and incident command, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and compliance with WLNG’s Occupational Health and Safety programs, fostering a strong HSE culture, and supporting the development of safe work plans, JHAs, reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Verify compliance with WLNG’s Environmental Management Plans and ensure contractors meet permit requirements from stakeholders, environmental agencies, BC Hydro, and the Squamish district.
  • Support QA/QC requirements and collaborate with the PMT Quality Management team.
  • Manage the daily activities of engineering consultants and the scope assigned to contractors by the PCW Project Manager.
  • Coordinate field queries (RFIs, technical questions) and scope changes with the Site Construction Manager, Project Construction Manager, Engineering, Project Controls, and Regulatory & Permitting teams.
  • Assist Site Procurement/Subcontracts teams in preparing technical/construction documentation for bidding, technical evaluations, and contract awards.
  • Review and verify contractor invoices related to the overseen scope of work.
  • Provide necessary information to PMT Project Controls for contractor cost and progress reporting/forecasts and change management.
  • Support site operations, emergency response, and incident management activities.
  • Provide support for the existing electrical infrastructure as needed.
  • Be flexible to work split shifts, overtime, and weekends as required to support maintenance and construction schedules.

Benefits

  • Salary range: CAD 160,000 - 180,000/yr
