About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Site Medical Director to join our team of medical professionals in the Bibb Facility in Brent, AL. This posting is open exclusively to current AL DOC incumbent employees. As a Correctional Site Medical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring all clinical needs are being met within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO)
• Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located in Alabama
• Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
• Possess a current DEA registration
• Currently certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Family or Internal Medicine
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to manage and direct medical team
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
• Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
• Performing sick call visits, and managing chronic care
• Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies
• Leading efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services
• Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities
• May supervise Staff Physicians and other medical staff
• Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
• Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs
