About The Position

As the Site Manager for FCS at Tampa International Airport, you will provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the janitorial operation, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for passengers, employees, and visitors. You will oversee daily staffing, training, scheduling, quality control, safety compliance, and client relations while ensuring all contractual obligations and performance standards are met. The Site Manager serves as the primary point of contact for airport management and FCS leadership, driving operational efficiency, maintaining regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires proven leadership, excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage operations in a dynamic, 24/7 airport environment.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in janitorial, custodial, or facility operations.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of supervisory or Site Manager experience.
  • Experience managing overnight/3rd shift operations.
  • Proven ability to supervise large teams of 50–70+ employees.
  • Experience assigning work routes, cleaning zones, and staffing schedules.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to enforce productivity and quality standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee attendance issues, including call-outs, no-shows, and staffing shortages.
  • Proven ability to coach, train, motivate, and develop employees while addressing performance concerns professionally.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial janitorial procedures, including: Floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing. Carpet extraction and pressure washing (when applicable). Restroom sanitation and high-touch surface cleaning.
  • Experience operating commercial cleaning equipment, including buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, vacuums, and pressure washers.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, PPE requirements, and workplace safety standards.
  • Experience conducting quality inspections, documenting deficiencies, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to complete daily operational reports, incident reports, and employee documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with upper management, client representatives, and frontline employees.
  • Experience responding to client concerns in real time while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced airport environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and basic computer applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks, airport security clearances, and drug screenings.

  • Additional education or certifications in Facilities Management, Business, or a related field are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day janitorial operations at Tampa International Airport, ensuring contract requirements, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently met.
  • Supervise, lead, and develop a large overnight workforce of 50–70+ employees. Provide coaching, training, performance evaluations, corrective action, and ongoing support to ensure operational excellence.
  • Create and adjust nightly staffing schedules, assign cleaning routes and work zones, and ensure adequate coverage across all assigned areas. Effectively manage call-outs, no-shows, overtime, and staffing shortages while maintaining service levels.
  • Conduct routine inspections, walkthroughs, and quality audits to verify compliance with cleaning standards, airport regulations, and contract specifications. Document deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for airport representatives and client management. Respond professionally to client concerns, requests, and feedback while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Complete daily shift reports, incident logs, staffing reports, equipment reports, and operational documentation. Communicate staffing, safety, quality, and operational issues promptly to upper management.
  • Oversee inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, operational, and available for nightly operations.
  • Enforce OSHA safety regulations, PPE requirements, and company safety policies. Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure all employees follow established safety procedures.
  • Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching on proper cleaning techniques, equipment operation, safety procedures, and company expectations. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all janitorial services meet contractual obligations, service-level agreements, and company performance standards while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Address employee concerns, operational challenges, client issues, equipment failures, and emergency situations quickly and effectively to minimize service disruptions.
