About The Position

Railserve is hiring an experienced and safety-focused Site Leader in Columbia to oversee daily rail switching and industrial operations within an active customer facility. This is a full-time leadership role responsible for maintaining safe operations, developing employees, managing customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across all site activities. Railserve is a leading provider of industrial railyard services across the United States and Canada. Our teams deliver on-site rail switching, material handling and transloading, track construction and maintenance, and locomotive service and repair for customers who depend on safe, reliable rail operations every day. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience in rail operations, logistics, manufacturing, transportation, or a related field required
  • Previous railroad experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, and technical instructions
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and operational documentation
  • Ability to analyze operational data and performance metrics
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment through employee training and operational oversight
  • Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the operation
  • Maintain required certifications, qualifications, and training records
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees across all operational functions
  • Identify high-potential employees and support succession planning efforts
  • Develop work schedules and staffing plans to maintain operational effectiveness
  • Foster employee engagement and accountability
  • Ensure operations meet customer expectations and contractual obligations
  • Manage payroll, fuel, equipment, and operational costs
  • Oversee purchase order processes and site expenditures
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs with mechanical teams
  • Monitor operational performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for operational issues and service needs
  • Ensure customer concerns are addressed professionally and promptly
  • Manage timekeeping, performance evaluations, reporting, and operational documentation
  • Complete customer and company-required reports accurately and on time
  • Support hiring, onboarding, employee development, and performance management activities
  • Perform additional operational and leadership duties as assigned
