About The Position

Arcadis is seeking Site Supervisors to join our Construction Management Team at our Kitchener/Waterloo, London and St. Thomas offices to support the Contract Administration and Site Inspection teams on key municipal and major Infrastructure projects. The Site Supervisors will play a key role in observing, documenting, and verifying that construction activities are carried out in accordance with Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings, project specifications, and the overall design intent. Working closely with the Contract Administrator and Project Manager, the Engineer of Record (EOR), contractors, and the broader project team, the Site Supervisors will support the delivery of construction phase engineering services by monitoring field activities and ensuring that design requirements are properly implemented on site. These roles are suited for technically oriented professionals with strong field inspection and construction observation experience on complex municipal heavy civil infrastructure projects such as watermain and sewer replacement/construction, road rehabilitation and paving, construction of multi-use paths, street lighting and driveway modifications. The Site Supervisors will contribute to effective coordination between the design and construction teams, helping identify potential design issues early and supporting timely resolution of field-related queries.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant field inspection, construction observation, or field engineering experience, ideally gained on large-scale heavy civil municipal infrastructure projects such as road rehabilitation, sewer and watermain construction/ replacement, and other municipal civil works.
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards and codes, including CSA, OPSS, the Ontario Building Code (OBC), AREMA standards, and relevant municipal and provincial requirements.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction related to reinforced concrete structures, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, track infrastructure, excavation support systems, utilities, and related infrastructure components.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and meeting project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in standard computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience using tracking or project documentation systems.
  • A valid Ontario G Driver’s License is required for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with design review processes and Construction Phase Services within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Registration with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular site observations of construction activities related to rail, transit, and infrastructure works.
  • Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with IFC drawings, project specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Document and record all required hold points, witness points, and observations as defined in the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and other construction management procedures.
  • Maintain accurate site surveillance reports, including detailed written documentation and photographic records of construction progress and observations.
  • Develop and maintain inspection, surveillance, and progress tracking tools to support the construction management team.
  • Communicate field observations, potential non-conformances, and design-related issues to the Engineer of Record (EOR) and project team.
  • Support coordination with the contractor’s representatives to facilitate site surveillance activities, respond to technical queries, and assist in resolving issues related to Requests for Information (RFIs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Field Change Requests.
  • Participate in site coordination and progress meetings, providing input on construction progress and design-related matters.
  • Support the design team in the review of shop drawings, material submittals, and Inspection Test Plans where these relate to site conditions and field implementation.
  • Promote Arcadis’ commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship while maintaining effective communication and coordination among the project team.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $120,000.
