Michelin has an immediate opening for a Site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager who will be responsible for leading the site’s Safety & Environment (SE) strategy and ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and Michelin standards. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years directly managing Title V Air and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater permits.
  • Deep knowledge of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and solid experience preparing and submitting semi-annual monitoring reports, annual compliance certifications and deviation notifications for Title V air permits.
  • Proven experience managing Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs for a manufacturing site, including exposure assessment, control strategies and communication with employees and leadership.
  • Demonstrated behavioral safety leadership, including the ability to coach managers and frontline supervisors so they, in turn, effectively coach their teams on key safe behaviors.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred but not required; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Ability to build trusted partnerships at all levels of the organization, influence without authority, and communicate clearly in both technical and non-technical terms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 45001 or similar occupational health and safety management system standards for an industrial site (preferred).
  • Experience contributing to people development and succession planning for EHS/Safety professionals within a plant or country organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Site SE Domain as a member of the Site Direction Team, carrying the SE Group policy and implementing strategic guidelines for the plant, ensuring strong engagement from EHS team members, managers and plant personnel.
  • Guarantee the performance of the Environmental and Prevention Management System (SMEP) by defining priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring that SE risk assessments, action plans and improvement initiatives are implemented and monitored.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and permit management for air, water, waste and other environmental programs, including the maintenance and updating of the site SE risk map and all required documentation.
  • Drive SE culture and behavioral safety by engaging leaders and frontline teams, promoting visible leadership in the field, and ensuring that safe behaviors are understood, practiced and reinforced.
  • Oversee crisis management and emergency preparedness, ensuring that site crisis management processes are defined, communicated, regularly tested and updated.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, assessments and certifications (including ISO standards and information security aspects related to SE) and follow through on action plans to sustain performance.
