About The Position

The Site Director is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of one or two childcare sites, managing and facilitating Before & Afterschool Enrichment and/or Early Learning programs. This includes creating and implementing lesson plans, maintaining site records, and ensuring state licensure compliance and overall effective program management. The position requires active involvement in childcare programs up to 50% of the time.

Requirements

  • Education and/or certification to meet OCCRRA requirements for CPL 3 (OCCRRA).
  • Certification in CPR (Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer), Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum 3 years working in a SCHOOL AGE/PRESCHOOL child care setting.
  • Minimum 1-year experience supervising and managing staff.
  • Minimum 1-year experience working with Microsoft office products.
  • Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to administer the program, fiscal, and personnel policies of the association.
  • Excellent time management, customer service, attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle high volume of work.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite with excellent Excel skills.
  • Experience with comparable payroll/HRIS system preference for ADP, Kronos, or Ceridian.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all licensing requirements are followed and the site is maintained in accordance with ODJFS day care licensing standards.
  • Direct supervision of Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers within assigned site locations.
  • Reviewing and appraising the effectiveness of directly supervised personnel and making appropriate training recommendations or staff changes.
  • Designing and implementing learning opportunities that include goals and objectives, incorporating activities promoting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Considering assessment and screening information when making curriculum and program decisions, and using age-appropriate guidance strategies.
  • Partnering with others to develop and implement individualized guidance strategies.
  • Creating an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for all children, youth, and families.
  • Representing the YMCA by developing positive working relationships with program participants, parents, and local community groups.
  • Sharing information with families about the relationship among learning activities, environment, and child development.
  • Communicating and following emergency preparedness plans.
  • Ensuring daily cleaning and maintenance of the space/facility.
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and policies, and administering First Aid to children/staff if required.
  • Notifying supervisor of any parent concerns or unsafe conditions, and fostering ongoing communication with supervisor regarding center operations.
  • Participating in strategic planning and goal setting for program improvement.
  • Implementing strategies to promote the value of the program in the community.
  • Developing and maintaining a file system including policies, school year schedules, ODJFS child day care rules, child enrollment information, and staff files.
  • Ensuring the site location has supplies and working with District Coordinators to order essential supplies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
