About The Position

The Site Coordinator is responsible for implementing daily summer league logistics and acting as lead coach for summer league activities. Site Coordinators are responsible for tracking daily attendance and leading occasional one-on-one coaching sessions designed to develop assistant coaches as baseball instructors, youth development specialists, and community leaders. Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy Site Coordinators commit to supporting the youth baseball and character development initiatives of the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. This includes the Academy’s summer instructional league, which immerses underserved youth in The Academy Way – a positive culture of teamwork, effort, continual learning, and a love of baseball. This is a part time position working an average of 34 hours per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in coaching youth sports.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to be prepared and organized for every event day.
• Knowledge of baseball/softball rules.
• Commitment to achieving the articulated objectives of the Academy for Scholar Athletes, staff, and the community at-large.
• Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills.
• Embody the qualities of a strong role model for the Academy’s Scholar Athletes.
• Uphold Core Values: Excellence, Performance, and Accountability.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in youth development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome and greet participants and their families.
• Assist in the distribution of snack before programming begins and dinner at the conclusion of each session.
• Take a lead role in implementing baseball/softball instruction and lead Team Time.
• Maintain supplies for baseball/softball-and other physical activities.
• Manage all volunteer coaches at their site.
• Lead measurement and evaluation efforts at each site.
• Ensure Summer League character development curriculum is being followed and administered.
• Implement tailored baseball instruction to young Scholar Athletes.
• Help Scholar-Athletes develop baseball skills learned on the diamond into life lessons that can help them succeed in the classroom and their community.
• Tracking daily attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
