About The Position

The Adventures Plus Site Coordinator is responsible for supervising staff, program development, and the overall operation of at least one site, serving children before and after school, on non-school days, and during the summer. This role requires managing staff, ensuring adherence to all program and regulatory requirements, and fostering a positive and enriching environment for children. The position may involve varied shifts based on program needs and includes performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate aptitude for working with school-age children.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; and 1 year (2080 hours) of experience working with children and 1 year (2080 hours) of supervisory experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field; and 2 years (4160 hours) of experience working with children and 1 year (2080 hours) of supervisory experience.
  • OR Associate's Degree (60 college credits) / Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA), plus 24 credits in Areas of Training/Credit listed below (credits can be part of educational credential); and 4 years (8320 hours) of experience working with children and 1 year (2080 hours) of supervisory experience.
  • First-aid/CPR and CPI certified upon hire within 90 days (provided free of charge by Adventures Plus).
  • Appropriate oral and written communication skills to work positively with school staff, Adventures Plus staff, families, and children.
  • Responsible for confidential information regarding staff, families, and children.
  • Counting and tracking students and maintaining ratios.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule.
  • Ability to travel to various locations for training, meetings, purchasing of supplies, and field trips.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Google and Microsoft Suites.
  • Experience with job-specific information systems and utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise site staff, including child care assistants, Site Leaders, volunteers, and interns.
  • Set staff expectations, provide work direction, training, and mentoring.
  • Facilitate the employee goal setting and evaluation process.
  • Provide regular feedback and address performance concerns in a timely manner.
  • Create a system for staff recognition and appreciation.
  • Effectively staff the site based on enrollment numbers, maintaining required ratios and qualifications.
  • Fill in as needed to maintain staff ratios.
  • Monitor accountability and ratios during program hours and adjust staffing as needed.
  • Ensure all DHS requirements are met, including staffing, training, reporting, and health and safety measures.
  • Ensure program safety guidelines on and off site.
  • Create, maintain, and train staff on site emergency plans.
  • Follow Adventures Plus and Anoka Hennepin School District policies and procedures and train staff accordingly.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required professional development.
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings.
  • Ensure staff members understand their responsibilities by communicating expectations and providing coaching and feedback.
  • Ensure Site Leaders plan and implement enriching and age-appropriate activities, including Adventures Plus initiatives.
  • Adapt activities to allow active participation by children.
  • Implement site standard accommodations for all students and train staff accordingly.
  • Implement and provide feedback on individual behavior modification plans for children, with assistance from the Inclusion Team.
  • Monitor and assess situations involving escalated children and provide coaching or assistance.
  • Demonstrate great customer service and engage with families and children.
  • Create a warm and welcoming climate.
  • Display respect for individual differences, backgrounds, and interests using inclusive materials and equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with other Site Coordinators, Site Leaders, and school personnel.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, a positive attitude, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Maintain an organized and uncluttered work environment.
  • Manage site budget effectively.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to problem situations using good judgment, collecting information, analyzing situations, and identifying solutions.
  • Effectively use available technology, resources, and tools, including Google and Microsoft Suites, and job-specific information systems.
