About The Position

The Site Coordinator will need to effectively manage a site in the operation of the Reaching Higher Afterschool Program to meet the goals of the 21st Century Learning Center grant funded by the State of Michigan through Highfields Inc. This is a part-time position working approximately 32 hours per week. The program runs Monday-Thursday, approximately 2 1/2 hours per day. The position will be located at Townsend Elementary School, Vandercook Lake, MI (Jackson, MI).

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in child related field: Early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education, physical education and recreation, child development child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies and social work, human services, and youth development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of youth.
  • At least 4 years’ experience working with youth, in a structured program setting.
  • Specific industry, regulatory or technical knowledge or experience
  • Shall be a person of good character who possesses the health, emotional stability, maturity and strength to carry out assigned duties.
  • Occasional travel is required to field trips and mandatory meetings.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must maintain adequate insurance coverage.
  • Must have/maintain a valid driver’s license with minimal driving infractions

Nice To Haves

  • 5 on a 10 point scale for Level of Managerial Experience (People) Required. The Coordinator provides supervision and oversight to site staff and their assigned positions in addition to operations of programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administration to implement and manage the Reaching Higher program in a way that follows industry quality standards and ensures compliance with Child Day Care Licensing rules and regulations.
  • Assists with administering the budget.
  • Ensures program operates in accordance with the grant.
  • Contracts for and monitor service delivery of vendors.
  • Recruits, supervises and monitors staff and volunteers.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with students, families, and school-day personnel.
  • Creates and leads parent and family education and service events.
  • Facilitates open communication between all staff and stakeholders.
  • Maintains staff and student records as well program database.
  • Ensures all assessments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Applies student behavior management guidelines.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings.
  • Participates in 18 hours of professional development per year that meets licensing requirements.
  • Ensures that staff meet professional development requirements.
  • Evaluates staff annually and jointly develops individualized professional development plans.
  • Ability to show sensitivity to the service populations’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
