About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Site / Civil Project Engineer for its Land Development group in its Leesburg, VA office. This role involves extensive civil design and land development activities, including the design of grading, storm water management, soil erosion & sediment control, public and private roadways, storm drainage, and water & sewer systems. The successful candidate will be part of a growing team offering comprehensive land development services to diverse public and private clients. This position requires significant subject matter knowledge and experience to manage projects from conception through completion, encompassing design, plan and permit processing, and construction phase services. Civil engineers at Dewberry collaborate closely with the planning/landscape architecture group to provide clients with complete project oversight. Candidates who are interested in feasibility studies, site due diligence, and preliminary engineering efforts will find a variety of projects engaging in the Leesburg office. Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or proven equal experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience directly related to the design and execution of Land Development Projects required.
  • Preparation of graphics, exhibits and Site/Civil Construction Plans.
  • Strong technical capabilities in various Software Applications including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Abode Acrobat.
  • Strong understanding of civil site design for retail, commercial, urban redevelopment projects required.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D.
  • Experienced individual must be capable of delivering projects that meet technical requirements on time and within budget.
  • Skill sets must include performance and /or direction of specific engineering work on diverse civil site design projects across market segments and with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to become proficient in Dewberry engineering practices, standards, and Dewberry-specific software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of experience preferred.
  • PE in the State of Virginia preferred.
  • Experience with Northern Virginia land development projects preferred.
  • Understanding of gas/power sector projects a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparation and coordination of all Land Development design aspects.
  • Works closely with Senior Project Manager and jurisdictional staff.
  • Mentors junior staff.
  • Client communication, budget oversight and responsibility, construction document (plan and specifications) and technical reports preparation and/or oversight; engineering analyses, cost estimates and quality control/quality assurance in order to deliver a quality design product.
  • Establish milestones and completion dates for projects and monitor progress for final evaluation of results.
  • Other duties as required.
