About The Position

The Nest Site Associate is responsible for general oversight of the property, cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. The Nest Site Associate works closely with each resident/family to provide guidance and coaching on long-term daily living skills and other identified needs. Together, the team prepares and supports our youth for successful independent living and self-sufficiency.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in homeless services, counseling, or related experience; or in place of a degree.
• 1-2 years of experience working with parenting or child development required.
• Strong written documentation skills required.
• Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to collaboratively work in community settings, but with the capacity to work independently.
• High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
• Experience working with pregnant and parenting youth, children, and family-centered or housing-based programs required.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, child well-being, homelessness systems, HMIS, and community resources required.

Nice To Haves

• B.A. or B.S. in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience (preferably with transitional-aged youth) is preferred.
• Familiarity with Los Angeles social service resources and the ability to creatively problem-solve member issues.
• Proficiency with electronic record systems and/or Clarity is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with each youth on-site weekly to conduct room, developmental, and safety checks.
• Hosts housing meetings to provide updates and mediations to other residents in the home.
• Facilitates regular room check sessions with youth, incorporating trauma-informed care, including needs assessments, psychoeducation, advocacy, and referrals.
• Monitors and documents resident safety, child well-being, and overall progress through structured tools and ongoing observation.
• Provides crisis intervention, de-escalation, mediation, and conflict resolution support as needed.
• Builds rapport with residents using a trauma-informed, youth-centered approach while promoting accountability and restorative practices.
• Coordinates and facilitates life-skills workshops, programming, youth meetings, and community-building activities.
• Supports all aspects of program operations, including intakes, move-ins, exits, and preparation of resident spaces and documentation.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, program logs, and data entry in HMIS and internal trackers.
• Oversees daily site operations, ensuring safety, cleanliness, organization, and adherence to house expectations.
• Conducts routine house inspections and manages inventory of supplies, including food, cleaning items, and program materials.
• Coordinates food resources, including meal support and pantry access for residents.
• Maintains and updates community resources, provides referrals, and coordinates services with external partners and volunteers.
• Collaborates with internal teams and departments to ensure continuity of care and effective service delivery.
• Schedules and supports transportation for residents to appointments, services, and activities; transports residents as authorized.
• Participates in internal and external meetings, committees, trainings, and emergency preparedness activities (e.g., drills).
• Assists with program reporting, outcome tracking, and data collection requirements.
• Performs site-related errands (e.g., supply pick-ups) and supports overall program needs.
• Performs additional duties as assigned in alignment with program and organizational needs, including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.
