About The Position

We are seeking a Site Assistant to join our Construction team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands on, working outdoors, and learning the full lifecycle of residential construction. As a Site Assistant, you will work closely with the Construction Manager to ensure homes are built safely, efficiently, and to Akash standards. You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day site operations, maintaining site standards, and helping ensure homes progress smoothly through each stage of construction. This is a growth-oriented role with exposure to multiple stages of construction and the opportunity to build your skillset within a fast-moving environment. Requirements

  • Experience in general labour or residential construction is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction practices, tools, and job site safety.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while staying aligned with the team.
  • Clear and direct communication skills when working with trades and team members.
  • Comfort using hand tools and power tools.
  • Physical capability to work on active construction sites in varying conditions.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to carpentry or framing is considered an asset.
  • A truck is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean and organized job sites, including waste removal, sweeping, and general site upkeep.
  • Ensure safe and secure access to sites by maintaining clear pathways and safe working conditions.
  • Support quality control by preparing homes for inspections and performing general labour tasks.
  • Complete and manage safety documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support frame checks and basic quality control processes throughout construction stages.
  • Assist with pre-occupancy walkthrough preparation to ensure homes are clean, complete, and client ready.
  • Complete light framing and finishing tasks such as installing handrails, garage landings, and other small construction elements.
  • Perform minor repairs including framing adjustments, drywall touch ups, painting, deck stair and railing installation, and replacing deck boards.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Communicate with trades to coordinate work, respond to site questions, and support daily operations.
  • Maintain a running list of tasks and ensure consistent follow-through on priorities.
  • Support overall site readiness and progression of construction stages.
