About The Position

Reports to a Training Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for the implementation of approved simulator technical training materials. The simulator training is provided to qualify personnel for positions in plant operations, engineering and/or other technical training. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC. Amentum is a global company with a heritage dating back more than 100 years and delivering solutions in nuclear energy, infrastructure, operations and maintenance, and national security. Our predecessors helped build Hoover Dam, protected fighting forces in World War II, and supported the Manhattan Project. Today, our teams clean up legacy nuclear waste around the world, manage the United Kingdom’s defense portfolio, design programs and tests for Navy submarine electronic systems, and provide integrated supply chain services needed in developing countries during the pandemic. Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC). Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest. Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Requirements

High School (HS) Diploma
Must have knowledge and/or expertise consistent with the technical material to be presented.
Must have experience as an instructor or have the ability to successfully demonstrate knowledge of instructional techniques through basic instructor training.
Instructors who are responsible for instruction of subjects such as Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) must have successfully completed training on facility operating characteristics and principles, and operating limits (Safety Limits, Limiting Control Settings, and Limiting Conditions for Operation) and their bases or have had significant involvement in writing the TSRs.
At least 2 years’ experience in technical instruction.
At least 2 years’ experience in technical training material development.
Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)

Nice To Haves

At least 8 years technical experience in operations, maintenance, or related technical position in Naval Nuclear, Department of Energy Nuclear, or Commercial Nuclear Operations.
Experience with JPro Simulation Software

Responsibilities

Conduct simulator system task training for control room commissioning technicians and other control room staff.
Operate simulator software and equipment, as necessary, to provide plant response during training evolutions
Miscellaneous support and/or activities related to training development and implementation.
Under the direction of a Simulator Instructor – Senior: Provide observation and evaluation of student performance during integrated simulator training.
Under the direction of a qualified instructional analyst/developer: Develop simulator task-based training, alarm response, and drill exercise guides.
Perform observations and assessments to ensure activities are implemented safely and effectively in accordance with approved procedures.
Support a strong Nuclear Safety Quality Culture (NSQC) by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work, in order to protect self, others, and the environment.
