About The Position

Metis Technology Solutions is seeking a Software Developer with experience in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and development to join our team. This role will support high fidelity, man-in-the-loop, real-time synchronous aircraft and spacecraft simulations projects. The Simulation and Aircraft Services (SAS) task order provides full life cycle flight simulation software and hardware services and flight simulation infrastructure engineering services for LaRC ground-based and flight research systems and facilities. This includes engineering, operations, and maintenance of simulation hardware and software infrastructure, as well as modification of existing infrastructure and design and implementation of new infrastructure. The Flight Simulation Facilities (FSF) include computing systems, a motion base, simulator cockpits, a re-configurable test and evaluation simulator, and Systems Integration and Laboratories.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, mathematics, aerospace or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 1-5 years of experience in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and development.
• Experience in OOD in C++ running under Linux.
• A strong background in math or physics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Rational Rose, Jira, Agile software development, C++ development under Windows, visual database development and modification, OpenGL, OpenFlight, or GTK 3.0.

Responsibilities

• Support high fidelity, man-in-the-loop, real-time synchronous aircraft and spacecraft simulations projects.
• Provide full life cycle flight simulation software and hardware services.
• Provide flight simulation infrastructure engineering services for ground-based and flight research systems and facilities.
• Perform engineering, operations, and maintenance of simulation hardware and software infrastructure.
• Modify existing infrastructure and design and implement new infrastructure.
• Support simulation operations and maintenance activities.
