About The Position

Toyon is seeking a highly motivated software engineer to develop and maintain an internal space systems modeling and simulation application written in C++. The candidate will also deploy scripted workflows to support and contribute to the modeling and analysis of advanced aerospace systems. The ideal candidate has a strong syntactical and semantic understanding of the C++ and Python languages and is not dependent on Large Language Models for writing and analyzing code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or math and 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python programming languages
  • Experience with version control software (Git, Bitbucket, GitLab)
  • Experience with software testing methodologies (unit, integration, regression)
  • Ability to create/manage workflows in scripted programming languages
  • Practical working knowledge of algorithms that involve statistical and applied probability methods (Monte Carlo sampling, hypothesis tests, regression models)
  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret)
  • Experience working with classified data and secure computing environments
  • Exposure to aerospace vehicle dynamics, flight mechanics, or GNC (guidance, navigation, & control) systems
  • Exposure to Space Situational Awareness concepts, EO/IR sensor and radar phenomenology
  • Experience with detection, tracking, and discrimination algorithms
  • Background in high-performance, computationally intensive simulations (profiling, multithreading, compiler-level tuning)
  • Familiarity with non-object-oriented architectures such as Entity-Component frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute rigorous testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and system-level testing
  • Leverage academic and industry resources to implement novel probability and physics models
  • Refactor and optimize existing models for high performance computing environments
  • Create and track development action items and monitor test performance using GitLab
