About The Position

Rocky Vista University in Ivins, UT has an opening for an SIMS Assistant (Part-Time). This position contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation events for the Office of SIMS, utilizing a variety of modalities, including live actors, manikins and task trainers, and virtual reality modules. The SIMS Assistant collaborates closely with SIMS faculty and staff across both campuses to foster consistency, collaboration, and excellence in simulation-based education at RVU and within the community.

Requirements

  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrate intermediate skill level of data entry knowledge and computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work with confidential material with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based multi-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and run EMS program and other software.
  • Experience with event preparation, coordination, and execution
  • Experience performing administrative tasks, including calendar management
  • Experience working in a professional office environment

  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include, but not limited to, pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboards, telephone, etc.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assists administration, faculty, and staff with assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with the preparation, setup, and delivery of simulated patient encounters.
  • Manages room setup and computer system configurations to support observation, recording, and post-encounter review.
  • Assists with the operation and maintenance of surgical task trainers (e.g., CutSuit and others).
  • Supports the preparation, setup, and implementation of surgical simulation events for all RVU programs, both intra and extracurricular.
  • Assists with surgical inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Assists with the operation, maintenance, setup, and execution of simulation events utilizing both high and low fidelity manikins and task trainers, including SimMom, SimMan, Baby Hal, Harvey, and others.
  • Supports simulation activities across all RVU programs, both intra and extracurricular, and assists with manikin inventory management and preventive maintenance.
  • Supports all aspects of training sessions, examinations, and simulation events, including scheduling and room setup, in collaboration with and under the direction of faculty, Directors, and Coordinators.
  • Is knowledgeable and supports all simulation-related software, including the EMS system, the Oxford Medical platform, and others.
  • Provides support with data entry, system monitoring and troubleshooting during sessions.
  • Assists in the execution of simulation activities for all RVU programs and affiliates, including students, faculty, SIMS staff, Continuing Medical Education excellence, and community outreach initiatives conducted on behalf of the University.
  • Supports the simulation center in ACS-AEI accreditation requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison between simulation center and internal and external user-base as needed.
  • Maintains professional cooperative relationships with staff, faculty, learners, and vendors.
