Silicon Photonics Design Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc•San Jose, CA

About The Position

AMD is seeking a seasoned technical contributor to drive end-to-end delivery of photonic integrated circuit (PIC) solutions for optical I/O in next-generation AI and HPC applications. The role involves contributing to and coordinating implementation and optimization across multiple teams, and interfacing with hardware engineering teams and AMD partners to plan, develop, and optimize PIC solutions. The engineer will develop optical-electrical systems in advanced silicon photonics process technologies for DWDM and CWDM applications. The position contributes to product innovation, definition, and specification of PIC architectures, transmit and receive chains, components, and test methodologies. It also works with systems teams to maintain, simulate, and optimize optical I/O link budgets against product requirements, channel properties, component limits, and foundry process capabilities. The role collaborates on design-for-test practices for high-volume manufacturing, participates in design reviews as a silicon photonics subject matter expert, and works cross-functionally with EIC, packaging, foundry technology, test development, and product teams to develop design and test automation solutions. The position is located in San Jose, US, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
