The Estimator prepares take-off and call work for construction projects to assist in developing bids and in the buy-out process. The Estimator analyzes blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. They read and interpret contract documents relating to assigned specific divisions, solicit subcontractor/vendor pricing information, and analyze and evaluate bids from subcontractors for their completeness and accuracy in scope of work. The role involves preparing accurate quantity surveys and take-offs, reviewing estimate/sub quote files for current bids, and reviewing KPI for bid preparation. The Estimator also prepares spreadsheets, coordinates with estimating staff for bid day, and prepares and submits multimillion-dollar bids to clients. Additionally, they prepare cost estimates and schedules, prioritize issues, and prepare reports for senior management and clients. Post-bid day, they log and file bid documentation and review awarded contracts to ensure alignment with bid documents. A hand-off meeting with management is prepared and scheduled to review the budget and bid plan for project execution. Familiarity with Bluebeam or equivalent takeoff software is expected.
