Under the direction of the Traffic Control Division Coordinator, the Signal Technician I, II or III performs work as directed for the installation, maintenance and repair of signals, lighting, etc. for which the department is responsible. This role involves utilizing a laptop for traffic signal software, testing electrical and electronic equipment, operating aerial tower trucks, and inspecting work areas. The position requires on-call availability and the ability to respond to emergency situations. The job also involves communication with supervisors and staff, perceiving and assessing safety and maintenance instructions, distinguishing colors, depths, and details, and performing physical tasks such as moving objects up to 100 pounds and maintaining stamina. The work environment includes exposure to moving parts, traffic, electrical hazards, heights, inclement weather, pollution, fumes, and moderate noise levels.
