  • Degree in software engineering, physics, computer science, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of five years in a signal processing-focused role, ideally in OCT, optical/computational imaging, or related medical imaging field.
  • Strong appreciation for well-specified and documented algorithms.
  • Background in test and behaviour-driven development.
  • Working knowledge of optical systems and interferometry, with familiarity in Swept Source OCT.
  • Strong proficiency in C++, CUDA, Python/MATLAB.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and debugging capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively within global, interdisciplinary teams, and fostering a cooperative, productive work environment.
  • Adept at clearly conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in English, with basic German language skills considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations, particularly software development design controls and configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with colleagues in R&D, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and marketing to achieve project objectives and deliver high‑value solutions.
  • Continuously enhance phase‑sensitive OCT algorithms to convert raw interferograms from photodetectors into high‑fidelity anatomical images (e.g., background removal, resampling, dispersion compensation, sensitivity optimization, artefact suppression) and functional vibrometry measurements (e.g., segmentation, time-series and frequency-domain analyses, modelling).
  • Develop analysis pipelines to compute image quality figures of merit.
  • Drive development efforts from proof-of-concept through optimization for robust, real-time execution on production hardware in the field.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, design descriptions, protocols, work instructions, and release notes.
  • Ensure full traceability from requirements through verification results, and support risk analyses (e.g., FMEA) and design history/change control.
  • Contribute in project planning and execution, including timeline and cost estimations.
  • Support the verification and validation of both hardware and software designs to ensure performance, safety, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, as well as project and product management, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and marketing teams.
