Signal Integrity Measurement Engineer

Graphcore•Austin, TX

About The Position

The Signal Integrity Measurement Engineer will validate signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) for advanced compute platforms, with a focus on hands-on measurement, electrical compliance, troubleshooting, and correlation with simulations. The role covers interconnects at board-to-board, cable, backplane, blade, and rack levels, and involves collaboration with silicon, package, board, and system teams, interconnect vendors, and original design manufacturers (ODMs). The engineer will develop measurement plans and design experiments, conduct electrical measurements and compliance testing, design PCB test fixtures, and prepare validation and compliance reports. The work uses interfaces and technologies including PCIe generations 4, 5, and 6; Ethernet; DDR memory; SerDes links; SPI; and I²C. This position is based in Austin. Graphcore describes the role as an opportunity to work with experienced technical leaders and interconnect partners to improve high-performance compute hardware.

Requirements

  • Hands-on expertise with VNAs, including PNAs; TDRs; BERTs; and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Strong SI/PI fundamentals and experience with fixture characterization, repeatable measurements, DOE, and electrical compliance testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center or hyperscale hardware experience.
  • Python or MATLAB skills for measurement automation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools and thermal or mechanical effects on SI/PI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop measurement plans and design of experiments (DOE) for board-to-board, cable, backplane, blade-, and rack-level interconnects.
  • Measure S-parameters, insertion loss, return loss, impedance, crosstalk, eye diagrams, jitter, timing margins, and bit error rates.
  • Design PCB test fixtures; perform calibration, de-embedding, and electrical compliance testing against interface specifications and customer requirements.
  • Correlate measurements with simulations and troubleshoot issues with silicon, package, board, and system teams, interconnect vendors, and ODMs.
  • Prepare validation and compliance reports covering methods, pass/fail results, performance margins, findings, and recommendations.
