Signal Integrity Engineer

FormFactor Inc.Livermore, CA
$134,056 - $166,100Hybrid

About The Position

FormFactor, Inc. is seeking a Signal Integrity Engineer to improve Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI/PI) performances, and to measure, characterize, and complete production design analysis. The role involves performing lab measurements and correlating them to simulations to refine future models. The engineer will model and design power distribution and high-density input and outputs (I/O) on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), packages, connectors, and probe cards, considering parameters such as reflections, bandwidth, and crosstalk. This position will also provide, document, and train the Design Organization on design constraints, specifications, and solutions for PCB and package layout based on Signal Integrity. Additionally, the role supports probe card development within the Design Group by enhancing the Design Organization's understanding of Signal Integrity fundamentals, aiming for shorter cycle times and higher quality products. Some telecommuting is permitted (hybrid).

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years of experience as Signal Integrity Engineer or related occupation.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in transmission line theory, impedance control, and stack-up design.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in analyzing board files using Cadence Allegro to ensure optimal SI/PI performance.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in measuring s-parameters of PCBs using Vector Network Analyzer.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in characterizing performance of a trace in a PCB using a Time Domain Reflectometer.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in performing and proper handling of RF measurement micro probes to measure PCBs.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in analyzing s-parameters and TDR data to characterize PCBs.
  • At least 1 year of prior work experience in layout guidelines for minimizing crosstalk, reflections, and EMI.

Responsibilities

  • Improve Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI/PI) performances.
  • Measure, characterize, and complete production design analysis.
  • Perform lab measurements and correlate to simulations to refine future models.
  • Model and design power distribution and high-density input and outputs (I/O) on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), packages, connectors, and probe cards with respect to parameters such as reflections, bandwidth, and crosstalk.
  • Provide, document, and train the Design Organization on design constraints, specifications and solutions to PCB and package layout based on Signal Integrity.
  • Support the probe card development within the Design Group by improving the Design Organizations and understanding Signal Integrity fundamentals resulting in shorter cycle time and higher quality product.
