Requirements

• A High school diploma or its equivalent
• Two (2) years experience as an electrician or similar field
• A Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire
• A "CDL" Class B license or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from the date of hire (Paid by the County!)
• Must be able to obtain an IMSA Signal Level I certification within one (1) year of hire AND IMSA Signal Level II within three (3) years of hire
• Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair: street lights, traffic signals, aerial traffic signal equipment, and remote traffic count equipment.
• Perform traffic signal controller cabinet maintenance and cleaning.
• Repair and replace vehicle detectors & pedestrian detectors.
• Install, maintain & test video equipment used to monitor traffic and detect vehicles.
• Perform and test traffic signal controllers.
• Install, maintain, repair, and operate all types of school flashers, pedestrian crossing apparatus, illuminated and non-illuminated aerial signs, and various types of electronic equipment.
• Test, services/repairs fiber optic and copper cable communication circuits.
• Set up work zone traffic control (MOT/TTC).
