About The Position

The Sign Language Interpreter (MHS) position supports communication in an educational setting. The assignment is full time for 10 months, totaling 181 days, and is effective with the 2026-2027 school year. Pay is based on the Instructional Assistant Grade C13 Salary Scale, with credit based on years of full-time experience in a related position.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Hold or be eligible for Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III; alternatively, have a passing score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Written Test and a minimum score of 3.5 on the EIPA Performance Test, or hold another state qualification or national certification recognized by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing as equivalent to or exceeding VQAS Level III. Certificate of Deaf Interpretation is excluded.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
