Regular Part-Time Classified Positions We currently have multiple vacancies for the Sierra Kids Senior Site Leader position in the Parks and Recreation Department. Hiring will begin immediately following the close of this recruitment. This recruitment will also establish an eligibility list for future vacancies as they occur. As a Sierra Kids Senior Site Leader, you'll help lead before- and after-school and camp programs for elementary-aged youth. In this role, you'll supervise staff, oversee daily program operations, and direct engaging program activities for elementary school-age children. You'll help create memorable experiences through games, sports, arts and crafts, homework support, STEM activities, and special events. Every day brings new opportunities to inspire children, support families, and strengthen our community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of paid experience within the recreation field.
  • Every 6 semester credits (or 9 quarter credits) completed in recreation, human development, childhood development, education, social services or other closely related field to the position will substitute for six months of the required work experience.
  • Experience in related settings may be considered if it involved planning, organizing, and leading recreational activities. This may include paid experience in childcare facilities, educational settings, after-school programs, camps, or similar environments where recreational programming was a primary job responsibility
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Provide lead supervision responsibilities, prioritize assignments, create work schedules, and verify hours worked for assigned staff.
  • Assist in the interviewing process and provide training for assigned staff.
  • Provide a high level of customer service on the telephone, in person, and through dispensing information.
  • Resolve any discrepancies and address customer requests.
  • Monitor facility operations and coordinate activities and events.
  • Provide program oversight, including coordinating customer activities and events, managing registration and utilizing reservation software effectively.
  • Provide detailed planning and coordination to ensure successful implementation of programs.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment for safety and cleanliness and direct maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of City and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assist with general set-up and dismantle processes for daily activities.
  • Regularly inspect facilities and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and safe conditions.
  • Create program and facility-related documents using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other departmental software.
  • Assist in purchasing supplies, processing invoices and maintaining records, including cash handling and reporting.
  • Research and prepare reports on programs, activities, and facilities.
  • Perform related duties as required.
