About The Position

The GESMV Shuttle/Van Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, door-to-door transportation for employees to job sites. This role requires an empathetic, patient professional who can manage routes, operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and adhere strictly to agency and Ohio safety laws.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • At least 1 year experience transporting.
  • Employee must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider. If at any time the employee is unable to maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider, they must immediately notify Human Resources.
  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
  • Demonstrate initiative.
  • The ability to work cohesively within a team.
  • Knowledge of the city and surrounding communities and the ability to navigate safely while driving.
  • Must be able to follow through with assigned expectations and responsibilities in a timely manner.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, general business instructions, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write business correspondence and routing reports.
  • Ability to utilize technology.
  • Ability to speak effectively with staff, program participants and the general public.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with daily operational challenges with a calm demeanor.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and yearly Licensed Physician’s Physical.

Responsibilities

  • Transport participants in agency vehicle to and from job sites, as scheduled.
  • Ensure appropriate safety measures while driving GESMV vehicles.
  • Maintain safe, secure and clean physical environment (e.g. seat belts fastened).
  • Accurately record daily mileage, drop off and pick up times.
  • Must provide effective communication regarding changes to route to supervisor and/or participant being transported.
  • Conduct and document daily and monthly safety vehicle inspections and report needed repairs to Immediate Supervisor.
  • Must be responsible for refueling, checking oil and fluids of the vehicle each day.
  • Complete all required annual and monthly trainings as assigned.
  • Must follow scheduled route, with no unauthorized or personal stops.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.
  • Must be available to work split shifts if required
  • Adhere to Ohio Safety Laws at all times.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with 4 points or less on license at all times.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
  • All other duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.
