About The Position

US FOODS® is seeking Shuttle Truck Drivers to operate a tractor-trailer (potentially doubles) between US FOODS® distribution centers and shuttle yards. This role involves switching out loaded trailers with empty trailers, safely and efficiently. As a Shuttle Truck Driver, you will be a crucial part of the US FOODS® team, embodying the company's pillars of cultural beliefs, work ethic, collaborative spirit, and service. You will be responsible for checking route and account numbers for all assigned deliveries, verifying customer invoices of product loaded, and moving the tractor to the loading dock to attach pre-loaded trailers or a second trailer with a dolly. You will also be responsible for hooking trailers carefully, ensuring all connections are correct, using the electronic timekeeping system, checking for returns and paperwork on shuttled trailers, performing safety checks on the truck and trailer, fueling as required, unhooking and securing trailers, and parking and securing the tractor and hand truck.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have valid CDL A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualified.
  • Minimum six months commercial truck driving experience or three months of foodservice or food and beverage truck delivery experience required.
  • Double Endorsement License Required
  • Registering to the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a requirement by the Department of Transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Checking Customer Invoices of Product That Has Been Loaded
  • Moving Tractor to The Loading Dock to Attach Pre-Loaded Trailer And/or Attach 2nd Trailer with The Dolly
  • Hooking trailers carefully making sure all connections are correct
  • Use Electronic Time Keeping System to Log in Time at Stop Site
  • Check for Returns and Paperwork on Trailers Shuttling Back to The Distribution Center
  • Performing Safety Checks on The Truck and Trailer
  • Fueling (As Required by The Division)
  • Unhooking and Secure Trailer
  • Parking and Securing Tractor and Hand Truck
