About The Position

Under direct supervision of Shuttle Supervisors, the Principal Automotive Equipment Operator or Shuttle Driver will operate a variety of passenger shuttle buses throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The primary purpose of the position is to safely transport staff, faculty, and students who are required to travel between campus sites to fulfill their work and school related obligations. The drivers also support patient transportation to various UCSF clinical facilities on regular shuttles or on-demand Jitney service. This is a 100% Full-time role. The Department of Transportation Services at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) provides essential transit, parking, and alternate commuter services that impact benefit nearly every member of the UCSF community, including faculty, staff, trainees, students, patients, and visitors. The Department’s programs and services indirectly benefit the local communities surrounding UCSF’s many campuses and facilities in terms of accessibility and community livability.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
  • Must possess a valid California Class B or A driver's license with passenger endorsement.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience driving a passenger shuttle bus.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Knowledge of the City and County of San Francisco.
