The Shuttle Driver (CDL Class A or B) is responsible for safely transporting building materials, inventory, equipment, and products between company branches, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers. This role supports operational efficiency by ensuring timely intercompany transfers while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and delivery schedules. The Shuttle Driver assists with loading, unloading, securing, and verifying materials while maintaining accurate documentation and delivering safe, reliable transportation services. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid CDL Class A or CDL Class B driver's license in good standing
  • Clean driving record and ability to satisfy company driving requirements
  • Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements as applicable
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and perform physical loading and unloading activities
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Previous shuttle, commercial driving, or transportation experience preferred
  • Experience transporting lumber, building materials, construction products, or industrial materials preferred
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred
  • Previous warehouse, yard, or material handling experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport building materials, inventory, equipment, and products between company locations
  • Complete assigned shuttle routes while meeting operational schedules and delivery requirements
  • Verify load accuracy prior to departure and confirm deliveries upon arrival
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload materials using approved load securement practices
  • Assist with movement of inventory between branches, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers
  • Support efficient material flow to minimize operational downtime
  • Operate CDL Class A or Class B commercial vehicles in compliance with all DOT/FMCSA regulations and company driving policies
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles
  • Complete vehicle inspection reports, electronic logs, and transportation documentation accurately
  • Report vehicle maintenance concerns, accidents, safety issues, or mechanical problems immediately
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean, safe, and professional condition
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment as authorized
  • Verify product quantities, condition, and documentation before transport
  • Inspect loads to ensure proper securement and safe transportation
  • Assist warehouse and yard personnel with staging and material movement when required
  • Perform touch-freight duties as operational needs require
  • Maintain communication with dispatch, transportation personnel, warehouse teams, and branch management regarding delivery status and schedule updates
  • Support inventory accuracy by verifying transfer documentation and reporting discrepancies
  • Assist warehouse, yard, or production operations during downtime or between shuttle assignments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase transportation efficiency and operational performance
  • Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and PPE standards
  • Promote a safety-first culture by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Maintain professionalism while interacting with employees, vendors, and customers when necessary
  • Protect company assets through safe driving and proper material handling
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
