About The Position

This role involves operating vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations, providing assistance to passengers including those with physical limitations, managing daily transport schedules, performing vehicle maintenance and inspections, and maintaining accurate driving logs. The position is located at Via Christi Rehab Hospital in Wichita, KS, within the Automotive Transportation department, with a schedule of Day Shift, PRN, As Needed, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm. Associates are eligible for tuition discounts and priority placement in select healthcare programs through an academic partnership with Wichita State University.

Requirements

Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Experience with patient transportation
Provides exceptional customer experience to patients, family and health care providers

Nice To Haves

BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Chauffeur preferred.
Heart Saver AED preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

Operate vehicles in strict compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations, maintaining an accident-free record while immediately reporting any unusual incidents to supervisors.
Provide compassionate, hands-on assistance to riders—including physically limited individuals—ensuring the proper and safe operation of wheelchair lifts and secure tie-down equipment.
Manage daily transport schedules by proactively adjusting to unexpected changes and determining the safest, most efficient pickup and delivery routes to guarantee timely arrivals.
Conduct rigorous daily safety and cleanliness inspections of assigned vehicles, addressing maintenance issues promptly to ensure operational readiness.
Maintain meticulous, accurate driving logs according to regulatory standards and collaborate closely with the department supervisor to streamline daily transportation activities.
