About The Position

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate. The length of the position is 3 months, with potential for permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need. The location is Brownsville, TX.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 2+ years of professional experience driving people in a commercial setting OR 6+ months of contracting driving experience at SpaceX
• Valid Texas Class B (or Class A) Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. (Texas CDL required; out-of-state CDLs must be converted per DPS rules)
• Valid driver's license and clean DMV record
• Ability to work all required hours, weekends and off-shifts with minimal notice
• To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

• 10+ years of professional driving experience
• Experience driving a school bus
• Outstanding knowledge of applicable transport and safety codes
• Experience with route planning
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong customer-service background

Responsibilities

• Transport people in a shuttle between locations
• Safely load and unload cargo as needed
• Responsible for ensuring shuttle contents are secured for safe and undamaged delivery to destination
• Avoiding high-traffic and accident-prone routes, where possible
• Monitor service records of the vehicle when driving and report all problems to manager immediately
• Responsible for the cleanliness of vehicle and refueling when low
