About The Position

This job order is for Agricultural Equipment Operators that will drive fellow workers. The role involves transporting H-2A workers to and from fields, housing, or other designated locations, ensuring timely and safe arrivals. Drivers will also be responsible for maintaining vehicles in good working condition, including routine checks, refueling, and cleaning, and must comply with all state and federal traffic laws, as well as H-2A program requirements. In addition to driving, workers may be required to perform agricultural duties such as harvesting crops by hand, working in packing houses, planting, cultivating, and harvesting various vegetables and herbs using hand tools, tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning crops, and applying pesticides.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license (depending on the size of the vehicle or state regulations). Minimally a Class B with passenger Endorsement or a licencia Federal de Conductor Clase A
  • A clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with the local area or designated routes.
  • Ability to communicate with workers, often in Spanish or another relevant language.
  • Clean driving record (no major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving while intoxicated).
  • Minimum of 3 months of verifiable experience driving agricultural workers.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting H-2A workers to and from fields, housing, or other designated locations.
  • Ensuring workers arrive on time and in a safe manner.
  • Maintaining vehicles in good working condition (e.g., routine checks, refueling, cleaning).
  • Complying with all state and federal traffic laws, as well as H-2A program requirements.
  • Transporting workers to and from housing to local grocery store weekly for grocery purchases.
  • Returning to the worksite each day.
  • Logging times in and out for workers.
  • Arranging to pick up particular groups on regular trips.
  • Complying with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Following relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensuring that passengers follow safety regulations.
  • Notifying mechanics of vehicle problems.
  • Performing minor vehicle repairs, such as cleaning spark plugs, or taking vehicles to mechanics for servicing.
  • Performing routine vehicle maintenance, such as regulating tire pressure.
  • Regulating heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
  • Reporting any vehicles malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Testing vehicle equipment, such as lights, brakes, horns, or windshield wipers, to ensure proper operation.
  • Harvest crops by hand and work in the fields for long periods of time.
  • Work in the packing house packing vegetables.
  • Perform a variety of duties related to the production of herbs and vegetables.
  • Manually plant, cultivate and harvest vegetables such as: Green/Red Romaine, Green/Red Oak, Green/Red Leaf, Mizuna, Arugula, Green/Red Chard, Tatsoi, Spinach, Kale as well as other types of vegetables, lettuce crops, Culinary Herbs, Microgreens and other field crops.
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and knives.
  • Tilling soil and applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops, applying pesticides.
