About The Position

This role is responsible for operating shuttle buses to transport inmates/detainees, ensuring their safety and security during transfers. The driver will conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain vehicle sanitation, and adhere to all traffic laws and company policies. This position requires maintaining custody safety and security of offenders/detainees, reading and applying inmate record information related to health, safety, and security, and complying with Federal, State, FMCSA, and DOT regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clear MVR for three (3) years.
  • Valid CDL (preferred), with Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse - DOT (required).
  • Required to maintain specific State and Federal licenses due to contractual agreements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on all vehicles and submit written Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
  • Report all potential safety defects to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork for inmate/detainee transfers is completed in accordance with LaSalle’s Transport, LLC. (LCT, LLC.) policies, procedures, and contractual agreements.
  • Provide custody safety and security of offenders/detainees during transfers.
  • Read, review, and properly apply information from inmate records related to health, safety, and facility security.
  • Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws, drive at posted speed limits, and wear safety belts.
  • Drive facility vehicles in a safe and defensive manner according to policy and procedures.
  • Ensure the sanitation of transport vehicles by cleaning after every transfer and maintaining a log.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property.
  • Adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within capabilities.
  • Comply with Federal, State, FMCSA Regulations and DOT Regulations.
