About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking a part-time Shuttle Bus Driver (Transit Service Operator) to provide safe, reliable, and courteous bus transportation service to the PCC community. This position is funded at .76 FTE (approximately 1,580 hours per year) and requires on-site work for all shifts. The driver will actively monitor traffic conditions for safety, remain attentive to the environment on the bus, and interact with the public in various situations. The role may involve working independently with minimal direct supervision while on route. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six months experience in public service.
  • Effective interaction with customers and/or the public.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s license for operation of motor vehicle.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record including five years of accident-free driving, with no recent moving violations.
  • Must be able to pass a personal and criminal history background check.
  • Must pass a physical examination and submit to periodic drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient bus transportation service to all members of the PCC community.
  • Actively monitors traffic conditions to ensure road safety while remaining attentive to the overall environment on the shuttle bus.
  • Conducts routine safety inspections to ensure vehicle compliance and readiness.
  • Communicates accurate and timely information to customers.
  • Prepares and delivers clear verbal and written reports to supervisors regarding job status and any operational concerns.
