About The Position

The Shrink Conversion Quality Specialist is responsible for continuous improvement in the quality of the department’s production output. This role will work closely with the Shrink Conversion Manager, and all hourly employees in the department, to raise the Shrink Conversion intelligence level of our operators to avoid repeat quality defects. This role will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, and finding root cause analysis of all customer complaints, as well as creating corrective actions, implementing training and discussion with individuals and groups of operators in the dept. This role will also carry the responsibility of training supervisors/Assistant Manager on the newest corrective actions, as well as working with them quarterly on department training, specifically technical aspects within the department to raise their level of production intelligence. Along with these responsibilities, the Conversion Quality Specialist will help mentor and motivate the Conversion Team while identifying skill gaps, training opportunities and develop/deliver training solutions for the Department. This position will partner with the Department Manager/Plant Manager to identify current and future training needs including creating a training curriculum that will drive safety, quality, and perform Design and implement training metrics and report on the effectiveness and compliance of methods.

  • Post-secondary education or technical training preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum of two years of quality assurance, manufacturing, or related experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to support quality initiatives, investigate quality issues, and implement corrective actions

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing repeat quality defects and improving the overall quality of Shrink Conversion production output.
  • Review, understand, and investigate customer complaints related to Shrink Conversion products, including identifying trends, determining root cause, and documenting findings.
  • Develop, implement, and follow up on corrective actions to address quality concerns, prevent recurrence, and support consistent production performance.
  • Partner with the Shrink Conversion Manager, supervisors, Assistant Manager, and hourly team members to communicate quality expectations, reinforce corrective actions, and improve operator understanding of department standards.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve department training curriculum, training materials, and training records to support safety, quality, technical knowledge, and performance expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a department training matrix that identifies skill gaps, training needs, and individual development plans for new and existing team members.
  • Design and deliver training programs for operators, trainers, supervisors, and Assistant Manager, including technical training, quality defect awareness, SOP requirements, and corrective action updates.
  • Evaluate new hire training milestones and ongoing operator competency through assessments, observations, audits, and documented feedback.
  • Review and support updates to SOPs, specifications, and work instructions to ensure team members clearly understand requirements for manufacturing and packing finished goods.
  • Conduct routine floor audits and observations to identify quality risks, training opportunities, process weaknesses, and opportunities to improve department performance.
  • Mentor, motivate, and coach Conversion team members by reinforcing best practices, supporting skill development, and promoting accountability for quality and safe work habits.
  • Partner with Department Manager and Plant Manager to identify current and future department training needs and align training plans with business, safety, quality, and performance goals.
  • Develop, track, and report training metrics to measure training effectiveness, compliance, knowledge retention, and progress toward department objectives.
  • Promote and reinforce 6S principles to support a clean, organized, efficient, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental quality, training, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
