About The Position

The Shredder Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance of the shredder and related equipment, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. This role involves monitoring daily duties of equipment operators, pickers, and cleaners, assisting with maintenance reporting to minimize downtime, and improving overall operational efficiency. The position requires knowledge of machinery, tools, raw materials, production processes, and quality control techniques to maximize operational efficiency. This role operates under flexible parameters with the primary goal of achieving excellence in all facets of the position, focusing on providing high-quality product safely, effectively, and efficiently to increase profits.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques for maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and other employees required.
  • All U.S. applicants must be 18 years of age or older and all Canada applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Radius Recycling participates in e-verify for all U.S. new hires.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.
  • Oversees adherence to schedules, job assignments, and activities in order to run efficiently, at optimal productions rates with minimal overtime.
  • Directs the day to day maintenance of the shredder and equipment to meet production schedules and to ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective operations.
  • Provides orderly maintenance of shredding equipment, to avoid work cessations resulting from equipment failure.
  • Recommends replacement of equipment.
  • Request spare parts to be ordered, and tracks parts used for repair.
  • Adheres to and/or performs repairs as cost effectively as possible to avoid downtime and equipment breakdowns.
  • Monitors adherence to established safety programs and goals to reduce accident frequency within department.
  • Provides guidance to department employees on multiple shifts.
  • Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
  • Works with the Shredder Operations Supervisor and Warehouse Supervisor to maintain an adequate wear parts inventory, and issues, tracks, and reorders parts as necessary.
  • Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions for maintenance or repair to the proper supervisor.
  • Supports the Company’s Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business.
  • Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
  • Oversees a group of employees within the Shredder Department.
