About The Position

Global News Toronto is seeking two part-time Show Producers to join their team in Toronto. These positions will report to the News Director of Multi-Market Content. The role involves producing, lining up, and writing news broadcasts for various markets, working with teams across Canada. Responsibilities include writing, editing, and producing packaged and live segments, participating in editorial discussions, and collaborating with the Executive Producer, Anchor, and Graphics teams to determine editorial direction and enhance storytelling. The role requires a strong ability to respond to breaking news, manage multiple deadlines in a high-pressure environment, and possess excellent news judgment and writing skills. Familiarity with social media tools and video editing is also important.

Requirements

  • A University degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a broadcast-related field.
  • The ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in television broadcasting.
  • Strong news writing skills.
  • Exemplary leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent news judgement.
  • An amazing, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple broadcast deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools and technologies (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), and related applications.
  • Familiarity with news video editing.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and other TV production skills.
  • Demonstrate a high comfort level providing clear constructive feedback.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Life experience in, and knowledge of, various Canadian regions considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Grass Valley editing software is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Produce, line-up and write news broadcasts for various markets working with teams in various regions of Canada.
  • Write, edit, and produce packaged and live segments.
  • Participate in editorial discussions and meetings.
  • Work with the Executive Producer and Anchor to determine editorial direction and content of newscasts.
  • Work with Graphics teams to produce graphic elements to enhance storytelling and the overall look of the new broadcasts.
  • Perform other duties as required.
