About The Position

Visiting Angels of Reading is hiring a Short Shift Caregiver to support senior adults and home-care clients in Shillington, Reading, Wyomissing, Lincoln Park, Kenhorst, Grill, Mohnton, and other nearby communities. Caregivers help clients remain or recover at home with dignity through personal assistance, companionship, and practical support. Visits vary according to each client’s needs and abilities. Caregivers must also respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role offers flexible scheduling and opportunities to make a difference in the community. Pay is $14.00–$15.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of professional or personal experience caring for seniors and/or disabled adults.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion for vulnerable people and interest in providing meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Manage light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly in medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.
