About The Position

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Trailer Technician II to join their team. This is a dedicated on-site position focused on maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. The role involves performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs at customer sites. The Mobile Trailer Technician II will also assist senior technicians with more advanced repairs and continue to develop their mechanical skills, while adhering to company policies and performance metrics.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or a combination of degree/certification beyond HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years’ experience in a related field.
At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
Candidates must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Perform certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, and light repairs on trailers.
Repair trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, and liftgates.
Perform welding, fabrication, and replacement of trailer panels, body, and framework.
Diagnose and repair/replace compressors, coils, and electrical components on refrigeration equipment.
Conduct Preventive Maintenance and repairs on ThermoKing, Carrier, and other refrigeration equipment.
Perform DOT inspections on Freightliner and Mack Trucks, and trailers out of service with little or no supervision.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
Assess client needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
Respond to call center dispatched unscheduled service and maintenance requests.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks.
Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using a company-issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to Standard Repair Times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors.
Communicate with management and support team for approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO discussions.
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Participate and complete all company-required safety training.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with assigned customers and vendors.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of trailer equipment and systems.
Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
Assist Mobile Trailer Technician I with diagnostics.
