About The Position

Engine Systems, Inc. is hiring a Shop Test Technician II in Rocky Mount, NC. This role involves performing specialized testing on components to support nuclear sales and production, following written instructions and test procedures. The technician will conduct basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic testing, and assist with failure analysis. Responsibilities include disassembly inspection and assembly of mechanical equipment for diesel engines and steam turbines, reading equipment manuals, completing documentation, and preparing samples for material testing. The role also involves assisting with Material Analysis using FTIR, XRF, Hardness testers, and Carbon/Sulfur Determinator, as well as assisting with Seismic testing using a tri-axial table and environmental chamber component testing. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, including understanding and influencing safety performance, participating in safety meetings, and adhering to the Safe Work Policy.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and other part/assembly documentation.

  • High School diploma or Associates Degree in Manufacturing or related disciplines preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized testing on components to support nuclear sales and production.
  • Read and perform written instructions in accordance with test procedures.
  • Perform basic electrical testing as assigned.
  • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic testing.
  • Assist with failure analysis as required.
  • Perform disassembly inspection and assembly of various types of mechanical equipment utilized on diesel engines and steam turbines.
  • Read and comprehend equipment specific manuals as needed to become thoroughly familiar with customer products.
  • Complete required documentation as required.
  • Prepare samples for material testing.
  • Assist with Material Analysis utilizing FTIR, XRF, Hardness (Rockwell, Brinell, Knoop), and Carbon / Sulfur Determinator.
  • Assist with Seismic testing utilizing tri-axial table simulation, including set-up and assembly of test fixtures, set-up of monitoring devices, configuration of table software, and general operation and maintenance of the seismic table.
  • Assist with environmental chamber component testing as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Develop relationships with coworkers to better understand the processes and culture that affect safety.
  • Influence safety by evaluating safety performance, participating in safety meetings, targeting areas needing improvement and developing initiatives to impact the areas.
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable of Safe Work Policy.
