About The Position

The Shop Technician position exists to maintain and repair power generation equipment in a shop environment. This person will be responsible for maximizing equipment run time by performing maintenance as needed and ensuring that all equipment is always in proper working condition. The ideal candidate is an experienced technical guru who can repair anything, thrives on making repairs right the first time, is a direct and honest communicator, values efficiency, plans their work, and thinks through important details before starting. This role also emphasizes maintaining a safety-first culture, ensuring the protection and safety of employees and customers. This includes attending safety meetings, auditing practices, verifying work meets standards, and conducting work in accordance with company, customer, and industry safety standards to maintain an accident-free workplace. Professional, efficient, and frequent communication with customers is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screen.
  • General knowledge of job safety and production flow in a shop environment.
  • Electrical/generator troubleshooting & repair.
  • Systematic troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must have own hand tools (company provides specialty tools).
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced background or trade school preferred.
  • Engine overhaul is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and be responsible for run time, mechanical, and electrical systems of natural gas generators.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on generators (5.7L to 21.9L in engine size), including monthly oil changes, spark plug changes, oil and air filter replacements, overhead valve adjustments, checking batteries, and washing radiators.
  • Conduct load bank testing.
  • Repair and maintenance of natural gas engine fuel systems, cooling systems, and air injection systems (turbos, manifolds, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot generator control panels.
  • Diagnose 480V electrical output, check diodes, and replace/tune automatic voltage regulators for generator ends.
  • Maintain fit-for-duty status for each shift.
  • Maintain a Safety-first culture that always ensures the protection and safety of Baseline employees and customers.
  • Conduct work in accordance with company, customer, and industry safety standards to maintain an accident-free workplace.
  • Communicate professionally, efficiently, and frequently with customers (production foreman, pumpers, etc.) when issues arise.
