About The Position

This is an entry-level position with a 3-year training plan to become a shop and/or field technician. The trainee will be responsible for assisting in mechanical repairs and services on a full line of heavy equipment and attachments. The trainee will assist with maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on the full line of Volvo Construction Equipment machinery and/or related equipment brands to increase equipment knowledge. This includes working on equipment components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and computers, as well as electrical and structural repairs including welding. Additional duties include the ability to provide consistent communication with customers, vendors, internal and external staff. This position will champion a “Safety First”, “Customer Focused” and a “Continuous improvement” culture. It requires enforcing and adhering to all company policies, procedures, standards, and values, maintaining excellent customer and employee relations, and working safely at all times by adhering to all VCES safety guidelines, policies, and practices.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on construction, automotive, agriculture, or mechanical related equipment.
• Possesses a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Must possess a set of tools sufficient to perform the job as required.
• Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Willingly accepts responsibility and is flexible to any assignment.
• Willingly works over time when needed to complete an assigned task.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in the construction equipment industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist shop/field technicians with repair jobs as needed.
• Attend training classes when assigned to increase equipment knowledge.
• Service and repair work for this position will only be performed under close supervision.
• Some knowledge in diagnosing, testing and repairing heavy equipment and related machinery.
• Some understanding of basic repair diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to work on or around heavy construction equipment, which requires climbing and accessing hard to reach areas.
• Consistent follow through on all job facets.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
