About The Position
The Technician I – Shop (Fire Equipment) is responsible for the inspection, servicing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers within Fox Valley Fire & Safety’s Fire Equipment Division. This position performs assigned tasks under supervision and in accordance with NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures. The Technician I – Shop supports safe, efficient shop operations and consistent service delivery.
Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision while managing assigned tasks independently
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fire equipment systems and processes
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, recharge, and hydrostatically test fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA standards and company requirements
- Perform assigned shop work accurately and efficiently while following established processes and safety protocols
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, tools, equipment, and inventory
- Complete required documentation and records in a timely and accurate manner
- Assist with fire extinguisher training, demonstrations, or customer support as directed
- Support field or emergency response activities when required and properly trained
