About The Position
The purpose of a Shop Technician is to support safe, efficient, and high-quality shop operations by inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and preparing equipment, tools, and materials. The Shop Technician helps ensure equipment is operational, work areas are organized and compliant with safety standards, and projects are completed accurately and on schedule. The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, and preparing equipment and tools to support daily operations. This role ensures a safe, organized, and productive work environment while contributing to quality standards, equipment reliability, and overall operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 12 hours a day.
- Must wear safety glasses, steel-toe boots, a hard hat, and earplugs.
- Ability to go into trailers that can be as low as -10 degrees.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Mechanical Skills required and good with hand tools.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or higher.
- Lift and carry up to 100 lbs. on an infrequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or above.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining, repairing, testing, and preparing equipment and tools to support daily operations.
- Ensuring a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
- Contributing to quality standards, equipment reliability, and overall operational efficiency.
- Verifying that outbound products meet customer packaging and temperature requirements.
- Cleaning Plates and blades.
- Sharpening blades.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the shop.
- Assisting Maintenance when needed.
- Managed General Housekeeping.
- Installation and repair of electrical systems, machinery, and control systems, including wiring, circuit breakers and lighting fixtures.
- Cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery to optimize performance.
- Assisting other Maintenance Techs, Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
- Sharpening grinder plates, contherm blades and assembling grinder knife sets.
